Who Spinnaker Resorts is

Spinnaker Resorts is a timeshare company that began on Hilton Head. Ken Taylor founded it on the island in 1982, and its first resort, Spinnaker, opened in 1983 along the Brigantine course in Shipyard. Its headquarters are still on the island, at 35 Deallyon Avenue, and it runs resorts in four places: Hilton Head Island, Branson, Missouri, Ormond Beach, Florida, and Williamsburg, Virginia. In July 2026 Travel + Leisure Co., the company behind Club Wyndham, agreed to buy Spinnaker Resorts, with the sale expected to close later that year.

If you searched for Spinnaker Resorts and are planning a trip to Branson, Ormond Beach or Williamsburg, this page covers the Hilton Head resorts only.

Where the resorts are

All four sit inside Shipyard, among lagoons and the fairways of Shipyard Golf Club. Egret Point, The Carolina Club and The Cottages check guests in at the same front desk, the S.R Hotel at 35 Deallyon Avenue, from 4 p.m. Spinnaker at Shipyard has its own booking site and check-in office; its page has the details.

Guests at Spinnaker’s Shipyard resorts can use the activities at Waterside Resort. For houses and condos in the same neighborhood, see Shipyard vacation rentals.

Staying at a Spinnaker resort without owning

You do not have to own to stay. Spinnaker takes guests directly through its Hilton Head reservations line, (800) 504-8823, open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, or through the direct-booking links on each resort page. Spinnaker at Shipyard books through its own site. Owners also rent out weeks they will not use, and a local rental company, Hilton Head Accommodations, manages some Spinnaker villas.

Spinnaker also sells short “mini-vacation” stays at a discount that come with a look at ownership. Get the length of the presentation and any attendance rules in writing first. See sales-presentation promotions for what to ask.

How Spinnaker ownership works

Resale listings for Spinnaker’s Hilton Head resorts describe deeded weeks, some fixed to one time of year and others that float within a season, so find out which kind a week is before you buy or rent it. Every owner pays an annual maintenance fee. Owners can exchange through Interval International and RCI, and the company’s owner programs include Owner Bonus Time, which offers 20 to 50 percent off regular pricing on extra stays, and Spinnaker Rewards.

Fees, week types and the terms of any purchase come from Spinnaker and the contract, not from this page, and they change. Ask for them in writing.

Renting from an owner or buying resale

Owners who cannot use their week list it on resale sites such as RedWeek, and a rented owner’s week can cost less than the resort’s own rate. Before you rent, ask the owner for the unit number and confirm with the resort that your reservation is on file. Before you buy resale, ask the resort in writing what rights carry over to a resale buyer, what the current maintenance fee is and whether the transfer carries a fee.

For the full list of questions, see renting a timeshare week and buying or selling a timeshare.

Beyond Spinnaker

Spinnaker is one of several timeshare names on the island. The others are covered on the Hilton Head timeshares page, and the Shipyard neighborhood is on its own Shipyard page.
