Waterside by Spinnaker Resorts is a timeshare resort at 45 Waterside Drive on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, on the south end near Coligny Plaza. Its 198 villas sit in elevator buildings around a large pool deck. Spinnaker sells it as one of its three Flexible Ownership resorts, and weeks are rented as well as owned.
It is one of six Spinnaker resorts on the island; the others are on Spinnaker Resorts on Hilton Head. Its nearest neighbors in the family are the Shipyard resorts, The Carolina Club, The Cottages and Egret Point, a few minutes away.
The Units
Every villa has an open living and dining area, a full kitchen with a breakfast bar, a washer and dryer and a balcony. Each bedroom has its own bath, and some baths have a whirlpool tub. Layouts: one bedroom and one bath (sleeps four), two bedrooms and two baths (sleeps six), and three bedrooms and three baths (sleeps eight). The buildings have elevators.
The Pools and Clubhouse
The pools are why families pick Waterside. The main pool is a large zero-entry pool with a fountain in the middle, so small children can wade in from the edge, and the deck around it has loungers, umbrellas and a giant chess set. There is also a heated pool, a hot tub and a separate children’s pool. The clubhouse beside the main pool holds the check-in desk, a game room, an exercise room and a business center, and there are barbecue grills and outdoor ping-pong.
Spinnaker Activities
Spinnaker runs its south-end activity program from Waterside, from pool games and trivia to dolphin cruises, and guests at its Shipyard resorts join in too. Some activities carry a charge. The week’s schedule is on the Spinnaker site and at the front desk.
Near Coligny and the Beach
Waterside is about two blocks from the ocean. The closest public beach park is Coligny Beach Park, with restrooms, showers and chairs to rent. Coligny Plaza, with its shops, ice cream and casual restaurants, is a short walk, and bike rental shops such as Pedals Bicycles are around the corner for the island’s bike paths. Two Palmera resorts, Coral Reef and Coral Sands, are close neighbors.
Checking In
Check-in is at 4 PM at the front desk on site, open 8:30 AM to 10 PM Sunday to Friday and until 11 PM on Saturday. Arrive later and you check in at the S.R Hotel, Spinnaker’s 24-hour desk at 35 Deallyon Avenue, less than a mile away.
Booking a Stay
Book with Spinnaker on its site or at (843) 341-8850. Owners also rent out weeks they will not use, and owners can trade their week through Interval International. If you rent from an owner, ask for the unit number and confirm with the resort that your reservation is on file.
Not to Be Confused With
Spinnaker at Shipyard is a separate resort on Barcelona Drive with its own booking site, and Waterside at Pepper Hall is an apartment community in Bluffton. Neither is this resort.
