Island Rec is the Hilton Head Island Recreation Association’s center at 20 Wilborn Road, on the north end of the island less than a mile from Jarvis Creek Park. Locals call it Island Rec or the Island Rec Center, and it is the island’s public rec center: a fitness center, a pool, a gym with basketball courts, outdoor courts and a playground. The nonprofit began in 1977 as the Island Youth Center, started by the Rotary Club, and its programs now cover every age.
What You Can Do at Island Rec
Fitness center: cardio and weight machines, free weights and group fitness classes. Memberships are available by the day, week, month or year, and visitors can use it too.
