This Hilton Head Shipyard map shows the community the way you move through it: in at one of the two gates, along Shipyard Drive past the golf club, and out to the Sonesta and the Beach Club at the ocean end. It is drawn from the Town’s own shoreline and boundary survey and OpenStreetMap, with north at the top, distances to scale, and a numbered pin for each place most visitors are trying to find. The dashed line is the edge of Shipyard, pale green is the golf course and blue is the lagoons.

The Two Gates
The Pope Avenue gate is on Cordillo Parkway, a short turn off Pope Avenue near Coligny, and it is the nearer gate if you are coming from the Coligny beach and shops. The US 278 gate is where Shipyard Drive leaves William Hilton Parkway. Both are staffed around the clock, and every car needs an owner’s decal or a pass. The Shipyard Property Owners Association runs them and issues the passes.
Getting Around Inside the Gate
Shipyard Drive is the road everything hangs off. From the US 278 gate it runs past the golf clubhouse to a roundabout, where Cordillo Parkway comes in from the Pope Avenue gate, and then east to the Sonesta, the tennis center and the Beach Club at the ocean. South of it, Valencia Road leads to Hilton Head Health and Barcelona Drive to Spinnaker at Shipyard. The villas and homes sit around the fairways and lagoons in between.
Bikes are the easy way around. Golf carts are not allowed on Shipyard’s roads or paths, and only e-bikes that owners have registered with the association may be ridden, in pedal mode on the paths. No. HHI.com drew it from the Town of Hilton Head Island’s shoreline and boundary data and OpenStreetMap, and it is not made by the Shipyard Property Owners Association. It is to scale, but for finding a particular villa, ask your rental company.

One is on Cordillo Parkway just off Pope Avenue, near Coligny. The other is where Shipyard Drive leaves William Hilton Parkway (US 278). Both are staffed 24 hours a day, and you can collect a guest pass at either.
