  • Tennis: 6 courts
  • Hours: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Dog park: Chaplin’s Best Friends
  • Beach: Burkes Beach access

Chaplin Community Park, at 11 Cast Net Drive, is the Town’s largest and most varied park. It sits off William Hilton Parkway between Burkes Beach Road and Singleton Beach Road, and the beach access at Burkes Beach is on its far side. Locals often just call it Chaplin Park.

What Is in the Park

  • Tennis: a public complex of six courts, reserved through the Island Recreation Center.

  • Playground: a large, shaded one with thatched-roof towers. See the playgrounds guide.

  • Fields and courts: multi-purpose fields and basketball courts.

  • Trails: a network of wooded paths through the pines and oaks.

  • Picnic pavilions, multiple restrooms and Wi-Fi.

Chaplin’s Best Friends Dog Park

The Town’s only dog park is here, a fenced area with shade, drinking water and a separate section for small dogs. It is the Town’s only one, so it is the place to bring a dog that needs room to run. See the Hilton Head parks page for other places to walk a dog.

Parking and Beach Access

Parking is metered at $3 an hour on weekdays and $5 an hour on weekends, enforced 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in peak season, and payment is digital only, with no cash. Parking is free for youth recreational sports. The lot doubles as extra parking for Burkes Beach, a short walk away; the beach itself has only a few metered spaces. The park is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. after daylight saving time ends.
