Lowcountry Celebration Park is a Town park of about 10 acres at 94 Pope Avenue, beside the Coligny Beach parking lot, and its centerpiece is the pirate-ship playground that opened in December 2020. The ship is a reimagining of the Adventure, the vessel Captain William Hilton sailed when he found the island. Visitors sometimes search for it as Celebration Park Hilton Head, and the full name above is the one on the sign.

The Adventure Playground

The multi-level wooden ship has a crow’s nest on each of its three masts, swing bridges, portholes, rope nets, periscopes, ship’s wheels and rope ladders, with big sails over the top for shade. Cannons spray a light mist, and a wading pool and sand discovery area sit beside it, so bring a swimsuit and a towel. The play areas have soft landing surfaces. The playground is open sunrise to sunset every day.

What Else Is in the Park

  • The Sandbox Children’s Museum: a children’s museum on the park grounds.

  • Open pavilion and lawn: room to spread a blanket or run around.

  • Walking path: a lighted loop around the perimeter, plus two fitness stations.

  • Restrooms and Wi-Fi: the restrooms stay open until 10 p.m.

  • Public art: the sculptures Carolina Parakeet and Setting Sun.
