Which Ramp Opens Onto Which Water
C.C. Haigh Jr. opens onto Mackay Creek and Skull Creek, on the northwest edge of the island beside the Intracoastal Waterway. It is the biggest ramp and the first one you reach from the mainland. The fishing pier shares the site.
Cross Island opens onto Broad Creek and Calibogue Sound, on the south side of the island, which is the way to Daufuskie, Harbour Town and the sandbars. Broad Creek Marina and Palmetto Bay Marina are close by.
Marshland Road sits at the top of Broad Creek, where the water is very shallow. It suits a kayak or canoe, and the creek downstream leads to Broad Creek Marina.
Check the tide chart before you launch: the creeks here are tidal, and the shallow upper reaches near Marshland Road are best at mid to high tide.
Broad Creek Hilton Head: Ramp, Marinas and Charters
Broad Creek is the water most visitors mean. The Cross Island ramp launches onto it, Broad Creek Marina is on it, and the dolphin tours, sandbar trips and fishing charters leave from its docks. If you would rather not tow a boat, rent one or charter one with a captain.

Fees, Hours and Rules
Beaufort County runs the public landings. It does not list fees or hours on its landing pages, so call Beaufort County Public Works at (843) 255-2800 for current parking rules before a long trip. South Carolina requires boaters born after July 1, 2007 to pass a boater education course to operate a boat of 10 horsepower or more; the SCDNR boater education page lists approved courses.
