Where the resorts are
Barony Beach Club and SurfWatch are on the north end, well away from the busier south end. Grande Ocean is on South Forest Beach Drive, close to Coligny Plaza. Monarch, Harbour Club and Heritage Club are inside Sea Pines, which is gated, so ask the resort how it handles gate passes when you book. Harbour Point and Sunset Pointe sit on Broad Creek at Shelter Cove.
If you want to walk to restaurants and shops, Grande Ocean and the Harbour Town resorts are the best placed. For a quieter beach with fewer places to eat within walking distance, look at the north-end pair.
How Marriott Vacation Club ownership works
Marriott Vacation Club sells ownership mostly as points. Owners spend points on a stay at a club resort, choosing the resort, the unit size and the dates, instead of owning one fixed week, and some older owners still hold a set week at one resort. Every owner pays an annual maintenance fee. Through Marriott’s Abound exchange program, points can also be used at other Marriott Vacation Club, Sheraton Vacation Club and Westin Vacation Club resorts, and owner benefits can carry Marriott Bonvoy status on hotel stays.
