The north end is the quiet side of the island. The beach here faces Port Royal Sound, and it is known for shelling and nature walks. Fish Haul Beach Park is a short walk, Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park is next to it, and the airport is about half a mile away. Restaurants, shops and the ocean beaches are a short drive.
