The Preserve at Indigo Run is a condominium community of 252 villas at 4 Indigo Run Drive, just off William Hilton Parkway in the middle of Hilton Head Island. It sits at the entrance to Indigo Run and shares its name, but it is not inside the Indigo Run gate. The Preserve has its own gate, its own owners’ association and its own pool, fitness center and court, and it isn’t one of Indigo Run’s six neighborhoods.
The villas are in two-story buildings on about 34 acres, built in phases after the master deed was recorded in 2003. The association calls it a permanent-home community, and its rules are written to keep it that way.
The Villas: Six Floor Plans
Every villa is one of six plans, and there are 42 of each. They run from a one-bedroom of 936 square feet to three-bedroom plans of more than 1,800, and some villas have garages. Magnolia and Cypress villas can’t put in hard flooring without the board’s approval and a sound buffer.

Gate, Pool and Court
The Preserve is gated, and its entrance is on Indigo Run Drive; delivery and service trucks use the back gate at 96 Gardner Drive. The pool is open from April 1 to October 31, sunrise to sunset, and the deck all year. The fitness center is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the tennis and pickleball court from 7:30 a.m. until sunset. Owners can book the cabana beside the pool for a party. There are no sidewalks, so people walk, bike and walk their dogs on the roads, and the speed limit is 14 mph.
Being next door doesn’t bring Indigo Run’s amenities with it: its trails, lagoons and Indigo Hall are behind the Indigo Run gate. The public course closest to home is Golden Bear Golf Club, inside Indigo Run, which sells tee times to anyone.
Renting at The Preserve at Indigo Run
The Preserve doesn’t allow vacation rentals, and no villa can be leased for less than a year. The Rules and Regulations the association recorded with Beaufort County in April 2026 ban short-term and vacation rentals of any kind, on Airbnb, VRBO or anywhere else and whether or not money changes hands, and they ban renting a single room or subletting. Owners send the association a copy of every lease, give tenants the rules and a 24-hour number for repairs, and register any guests who stay while they are away.

Living Here: Pets, Parking and Rules
The Preserve is pet-friendly within limits: pets are registered with the association and always on a leash outdoors, a household can keep no more than two dogs, and no animal may weigh more than 75 pounds. There’s no grilling on balconies or patios. Trailers, boats, campers, RVs, golf carts and motorcycles aren’t allowed on the property, and a car too long or tall for a single space can’t park there.
