The Four Legged Frolic is the Hilton Head Humane Association's annual fundraising gala, held on a Sunday evening in early November. The 2026 Frolic is on Sunday, Nov. 1, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island in Shipyard, and it celebrates the association's 50th year.
It is an open, mingling evening rather than a formal dinner: food and wine, a live band, dancing, and live and silent auctions. All the money it raises goes to the dogs and cats at the association's no-kill shelter, and the evening sells out every year.
What happens at the Four Legged Frolic
There is no sit-down dinner. Guests eat when they like, meeting the chefs at their stations, and can move around the room or sit at their own table, with wine included. Target the Band has played recent Frolics, and there is dancing to the band.
The auctions are the heart of the fundraising. The silent auction runs through the evening, and the live auction has offered trips, dinners at island restaurants, jewelry and an electric bike in past years. Supporters donate the lots.
Four Legged Frolic tickets and sponsorships
Tickets are $195 a person for 2026 and are sold online by the Humane Association: use the Buy tickets button, or call the association at (843) 681-8686. The Frolic sells out every year, so book early.
Businesses and families can also sponsor the night through the same ticket site. Part of the auction runs online before the gala, on the same site, and online bidding closes on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 10 p.m.
Where the money goes: the Humane Association's shelter
All proceeds support the Hilton Head Humane Association's no-kill shelter on Humane Way, in the middle of the island, which finds homes for dogs and cats and runs a low-cost spay and neuter clinic. The association is a private nonprofit funded by donations, memberships, events like the Frolic and its thrift store, the Litter Box.

The island's no-kill shelter: adoptions Monday to Saturday, the spay and neuter clinic and volunteering.

Where the Frolic is held: the Sonesta Resort
The 2026 Frolic is at the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island, 130 Shipyard Dr, an oceanfront resort in Shipyard. The venue can change from year to year: the 2025 Frolic was at The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa. If you want to make a night of it, our Sonesta guide covers the resort.
