Beachside Tennis Villas is the villa complex on the sand at South Beach, the southern tip of Sea Pines, where the Atlantic turns into Calibogue Sound. Two things set it apart: balconies that look across the sound toward Daufuskie Island, and South Beach Marina Village directly across the street.

The Villas

The complex is two five-story buildings with elevators. Almost every unit is a two-bedroom, two-bath villa that sleeps six; there are a few one-bedrooms. Most face Calibogue Sound, and a few also have ocean views. A trail through the dunes takes you to the beach.

The resort’s own units ran from about $140 to $975 a night before taxes and fees, depending on the unit and the week. None of the resort’s units here was pet friendly.

Beachside Tennis at Sea Pines: Where the Courts Are

Despite the name, the complex has no courts of its own. The tennis is next door at the South Beach Racquet Club, a short walk away, with tennis and pickleball. Book through the resort and you also get two free hours of tennis a day at the Sea Pines Racquet Club near Harbour Town, home of the Smith Stearns Tennis Academy. The Pool, the Beach and the Rules

• The beachfront pool is seasonal. The resort’s listings mark complex pools closed from October to April, with the deck left open.

• No grills on the balconies; use the complex’s grilling area.

Getting Around from South Beach

Everything at South Beach Marina Village is a walk: the Salty Dog Cafe, the shops, boat tours and bike rentals. Harbour Town and the Beach Club are a drive, a bike ride or a trip on the seasonal Sea Pines trolley. Your rental company handles the gate pass; the gate pass office page explains how.
