The Cinnamon Bear Country Store is the ice cream and gift shop in the Harbour Town shops, at 149 Lighthouse Road. Its sign says espresso, ice cream, and unique gifts and collectibles, which is the whole business in six words.

It stays open to 10 p.m. every night, which matters more than it sounds in Harbour Town: on a summer evening, when the shops have shut and people are still out by the water after a concert, this is one of the few doors still open.

Ice Cream, Coffee and Candy

Ice cream and frozen yogurt are the draw, scooped at a counter case, with sugar-free and dairy-free options for anyone who needs them, and toppings included rather than added to the bill. There is espresso and coffee at the same counter, bulk candy, and fudge. That combination — cold thing for the children, coffee for whoever is holding the bags — is why the queue here is usually a family.

If you are at the other end of Sea Pines, the Salty Dog Ice Cream Shop at South Beach Marina is the equivalent stop there.

The Country Store Half

The rest of the shop is gifts: local souvenirs, gourmet sauces, dips and snacks, children’s toys, jewelry, apparel, flags and banners, and home decor. It reads as a general gift shop rather than a specialist one, which makes it a useful stop when you need something for someone back home and do not want to work through the whole row of shops.

One of Four Stores, One on Hilton Head

The company describes itself as a southern tradition of more than 25 years, and runs four stores across South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Only one of them is on Hilton Head Island, and it is this one, in Harbour Town — worth knowing if you find hours or a phone number online that do not match.

Getting There

Harbour Town is at the south end of Sea Pines, behind a gate. Unless you own property there, are a resort guest or have a Sea Pines rental booking, the gate fee is $10 per day for a standard vehicle; the guest pass office page has the rest. Park in the Harbour Town lot; the shop is in the row between the lighthouse and the marina, a minute from the restaurants.
