The Harbour Town marina is the harbour at the foot of the lighthouse in Sea Pines, and its proper name is the Harbour Town Yacht Basin. The Sea Pines Resort runs it as a full-service marina with 100 slips, open to boaters all year, on Calibogue Sound just off the Intracoastal Waterway. For everyone else it is the centre of Harbour Town: the dolphin cruises, fishing charters and sunset sails leave from its docks.

You will see it as Harbourtown Marina, Harbor Town Marina or the Harbor Town Yacht Basin, all the same place. It is not the Harbortown marinas on Merritt Island and in Jacksonville, Florida, or Harbour Towne Marina in Dania Beach, Florida, or in Muskegon, Michigan. Slips and Dockage at the Harbour Town Yacht Basin

Visiting boats can take a slip for a night, a week or a month, and slips are also sold. The resort prices dockage by the foot, and fuel is sold at the marina. Dockage can be reserved online through Dockwa or by calling the marina office at 843-363-8335. Current rates are on the resort’s dockage page, and they change with the season.

A slip here puts you inside Sea Pines, so the lighthouse, the shops, the restaurants and the rest of the resort are a walk away, without the gate.

Cruises and Charters From the Harbour Town Marina

Most visitors come to the marina to get on a boat, not to dock one. Vagabond Cruise runs narrated dolphin cruises and sunset cruises from the yacht basin, plus a morning trip across Calibogue Sound to Daufuskie Island, and its Spirit of Harbour Town yacht does sunset dinner cruises. Private fishing charters and watersports rentals work out of Harbour Town as well.

The Harbour Town Yacht Basin, Then and Now

Sea Pines built the harbour and the village around it more than 40 years ago; the resort says the design was inspired by Portofino in Italy. The lighthouse went up beside it as a landmark for boaters coming off the waterway, and the ring of shops and restaurants grew around the docks. Getting There

By land, Harbour Town is at the southern end of Sea Pines, a gated community. Unless you own property there, are a resort guest or have a Sea Pines rental reservation, the gate fee is $10 per day for a standard vehicle. Park in the Harbour Town lot and walk down to the docks.

Around the Marina
