Heron Point Golf Course Hilton Head

Heron Point by Pete Dye is a complete 2007 reconstruction of Sea Pines Resort’s original Sea Marsh course, a George Cobb design. Pete Dye reshaped the fairways with his signature mounding and swales, added tee boxes, and enlarged several greens to make the course more playable for the average golfer while keeping real risk/reward holes throughout. Heron Point Pete Dye Rebuild of Sea Pines’ Original Sea Marsh Course

Before it was Heron Point, this ground was Sea Marsh, one of Sea Pines Resort’s original George Cobb designs. Pete Dye’s 2007 reconstruction reshaped the fairways with the mounding, swales, and target-area framing he was known for, while adding tee options and enlarging greens to keep the course approachable for a wider range of players. The course is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, and a dedicated “Pete Dye Room” at the clubhouse celebrates the architect’s life and work.

The par-3 4th is regarded as one of the most challenging short holes on all of Hilton Head Island, with water and bunkers guarding the green. The par-3 13th is the course’s most dramatic hole, playing across water on the left, and the par-4 18th closes the round with a picturesque, water-and-bunker-guarded finish.

Heron Point, Sea Pines Resort, Hilton Head Island

Heron Point is on Sea Pines Drive inside Sea Pines Resort, on the southern end of Hilton Head Island — one of three courses at the resort alongside Harbour Town Golf Links and Atlantic Dunes by Davis Love III. A Sea Pines gate pass is required to reach the club, same as the resort’s other courses.
