Harbour Town General Store

The Harbour Town General Store is the practical stop in the Harbour Town shops: a small convenience store at 147-C Lighthouse Road, Hilton Head Island, SC, for the things you forgot to pack or ran out of by the second day. You will also see it spelled Harbor Town General Store.

What the General Store Carries

Snacks and cold drinks, milk and eggs from the cooler, sunscreen and beach supplies, sunglasses, souvenir T-shirts and a wall of toys. It is not a supermarket; for a full grocery run, stock up before you come through the Sea Pines gate.

There used to be a Boar’s Head deli counter, added in a renovation, but a reviewer reported its menu gone at the end of 2022, so do not plan lunch around it. For a sit-down meal, the Harbour Town restaurants are a short walk away.

Ice Cream at the General Store

The counter scoops ice cream, and it is the thing reviewers like most here: big scoops for children and a long list of flavors, with Moose Tracks the one that gets named. The Cinnamon Bear Country Store nearby is the other ice cream counter in Harbour Town, and it stays open to 10 p.m.

It is one of the lowest-rated shops in Harbour Town on Google, and the complaints are about the counter, not the shelves: staff who come across as unfriendly, and a few recent disputes over what was charged. Check the total before you tap your card.

Getting There

Harbour Town is at the south end of Sea Pines, behind a gate. Unless you own property there, are a resort guest or have a Sea Pines rental booking, the gate fee is $10 per day for a standard vehicle. Park in the Harbour Town lot and walk in; the store is a few minutes from the lighthouse and the Liberty Oak.
