A Wine Tasting Room and British Gift Shop in Harbour Town
Honey & Thistle is a wine tasting room and gift shop in Harbour Town, at 149 Lighthouse Road, Suite A. It opened in 2023 and it is the only place in Sea Pines built around a tasting table rather than a dining room — you go in to try something, not to eat.
The name is the tell. One half of the shop is wine; the other is the British Isles — teas, biscuits, honeys and jams, tartan and wool, Scottish prints on the wall. It is an unusual thing to find between a lighthouse and a marina, and it is the reason to go in.
What They Pour
Boutique wines, domestic and international, and sparkling wine, chosen rather than stocked by the case. Alongside them are two things you will not find easily elsewhere on the island: locally made meads, and British craft beer. Tastings run daily, so you can try before you buy a bottle to take back to the villa.
Tastings, Classes and the First Friday
There are monthly wine classes run with the Hilton Head Wine School, and a wine preview party on the first Friday of each month from 4 to 7 p.m., which is the evening to aim for if you want the shop at its liveliest. The room is also hired for private events. Numbers are small — it is one table and a few stools — so call ahead for anything organised.
The Gift Shop Half
Imported goods from the British Isles fill the shelves opposite the wine: teas, biscuits, honeys and jams, along with woollens and bags. It is a better answer than a souvenir shop for someone at home who does not want a T-shirt, and it pairs naturally with a bottle.
Getting There
Harbour Town is at the south end of Sea Pines, behind a gate.
