The Sea Pines Welcome Center is the building on Greenwood Drive where most people staying in Sea Pines stop before they reach the main gate. It does two jobs under one roof. The front desk belongs to The Sea Pines Resort, and it is where resort guests check in and collect their gate passes. Around the back, a drive-through window belongs to the Sea Pines CSA, the community association that runs the gates, and it hands out passes that property owners have reserved for their guests.

If you are looking for a Sea Pines visitor center, this is it. Sea Pines was long known as Sea Pines Plantation, so you will also see it called the Sea Pines Plantation welcome center. A day visitor does not need to stop here at all: day passes are sold at the gates. For everything else about the community, start at Sea Pines.

Do You Need to Stop at the Welcome Center?

It depends on how you are staying. The short version:

• Renting a home or villa through The Sea Pines Resort: yes. The front desk checks you in, gives you directions to the rental, and hands over two gate passes. Resort guests also get the Guest Amenity Card here. Check-in starts at 4 p.m.

• Staying at The Inn & Club at Harbour Town: only if your two gate passes did not arrive in the mail before the trip. Check-in itself happens at the inn.

• Visiting a Sea Pines property owner: yes, if they reserved a pass for you. Pick it up at the drive-through window at the back of the building.

• Renting through another rental company: usually not. Rental companies buy passes from the CSA ahead of time and send them to you. If you booked less than 48 hours out and have no pass, buy a $20 weekly rental pass at the gate.

• Coming for the day: no. Buy a day pass at the Greenwood Gate or the Ocean Gate ($10 per car as of March 1, 2026).

Sea Pines Welcome Center Hours

The Gate Pass Office window has seasonal hours. From September 13, 2026, it is open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The resort does not post hours for its front desk, but it does have a plan for late arrivals.

If you are a resort guest and arrive after hours, walk up to the front door. A phone to the right of the door, next to a lock box, connects you to the resort’s 24-hour staff, who will talk you through getting your check-in packet and passes out of the box. You come back the next day to sign in and leave a card. If a property owner reserved your pass and the window is closed, drive straight to the gate and give the attendant your name. Your pass will be on their list, and you pick up the paper pass the next day.

Sea Pines Welcome Center, Hilton Head SC: Address and Directions

The address is 32 Greenwood Drive, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928. Search for "Sea Pines Welcome Center, Hilton Head Island" in a map app and it should bring you to the same spot. Coming down Palmetto Bay Road, keep right at the Sea Pines Circle and continue onto Greenwood Drive. Stay in the right-hand lane, and the Welcome Center is on your right about a tenth of a mile along. For the pass window, drive around to the back of the building. When you have your pass, carry on down Greenwood Drive to the gate.

Picking Up a Guest Pass at the Welcome Center

The drive-through window is the Sea Pines CSA’s Gate Pass Office, not the resort’s. It hands out passes that owners have reserved for friends and family, for stays of up to 30 days, along with resort visitor passes. Have the owner’s name ready. Owners reserve these passes by phone or through the CSA’s online portal, and they cannot use them for contractors or other service workers. Put the pass on your dashboard. The resort says your party needs a pass to come through the gate by car, bike or on foot, and the CSA does not let day visitors ride in on bicycles.

Once You Are Inside Sea Pines

Parking along the roads is not allowed anywhere in Sea Pines, so plan on lots. From spring through Labor Day, the parking at the Sea Pines Beach Club is kept for resort guests and property owners from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A free beach shuttle runs from Lot 8 on Greenwood Drive to the Beach Club from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in season, for owners, their guests, and renters holding a CSA weekly rental pass. Day visitors cannot ride it. The Sea Pines Forest Preserve is a short drive further down Greenwood Drive, and the rest of what there is to do is in things to do in Sea Pines.
