Baynard Park is a private waterfront park on Baynard Park Road, in the Baynard neighborhood of the Sea Pines Resort area. It belongs to the Baynard Property Owners Association and is for the residents of its 216 homes. It is not open to visitors or resort guests.
If you were looking for somewhere to visit, you probably want the Stoney Baynard Ruins, the tabby walls of an old plantation house in their own small public park close by. The rest of this page is for residents, and for anyone curious about the name on the map.
What Baynard Park Is
The park sits on the water in the Baynard neighborhood. It has a new pavilion, where the association holds its social events and meetings, and a dock with racks where members keep kayaks for Baynard Creek and, beyond it, Calibogue Sound.
Charles Fraser, the founder of Sea Pines, deeded the park and its dock to the association in the early 1980s, and the covenants require it to stay a community park owned by the association. The association describes it as the only private waterfront park available to Sea Pines residents. Volunteers from the neighborhood run the association and look after the park.
Who Can Use It
Members of the Baynard Property Owners Association, which was incorporated in 1979. Its homes are on Baynard Peninsula, Baynard Cove Road, Baynard Park Road, Turnberry Lane, Red Oak Road, Marsh Drive and the Baynard Oaks section of Plantation Drive. Access comes through the association, not the resort or the CSA, so if you are renting a home in the neighborhood, ask the owner or your rental company whether it extends to guests.
