Sea Pines Beaches

The Sea Pines beach is one long stretch of Atlantic sand along the ocean side of Sea Pines, running down to South Beach at the southern tip of Hilton Head, where the ocean meets Calibogue Sound. It is all one beach, but there are three places people mean when they talk about going to it, and each one suits a different visitor. On Hilton Head, Sea Pines beach access works differently from the public beach parks. Sea Pines is a gated community, and its paths, lots and shuttle are built around the people staying inside it. Who you are (owner, renter, resort guest or day visitor) decides where you can park and which beach is easiest.

Which Sea Pines Beach?

The Beach Club is the full-service choice: Coast restaurant, a bar, chair and umbrella service, restrooms and showers, at 87 North Sea Pines Drive. It is the one most people mean by “the Sea Pines beach,” and the only one with a parking lot a visitor can sometimes use. See the Sea Pines Beach Club guide.

South Beach is the sand at the very southern tip, a couple of minutes’ walk from the restaurants and shops of South Beach Marina Village. There is no beach lot, so it suits people staying nearby or anyone making a day of the marina. See South Beach access.

Tower Beach, under the blue water tower at 99 South Sea Pines Drive, is the community association’s facility, with grills, a shaded pavilion and restrooms. It is for Sea Pines property owners and the guests they bring with them, not renters on their own or day visitors. See Tower Beach.

Sea Pines Beach Access

Beyond those three, the CSA (the Sea Pines community association) keeps a beach path roughly every tenth of a mile along the oceanfront. The paths are there for property owners and overnight guests who walk or bike to the beach, and for most renters that is the whole answer: follow the nearest path from the house or villa and leave the car where it is. As for public beach access in Sea Pines, Hilton Head: the beach itself is public below the high-water mark, as on every South Carolina beach, so no one owns the sand you walk on. What is private is the way onto it. A day visitor pays the gate fee (see the Sea Pines guest pass office), and then the realistic option is the Beach Club outside its restricted hours, because the shuttle lot and Tower Beach are closed to day visitors and South Beach has no lot.

Sea Pines Beach Parking

Parking is the part that catches people out. Beach parking is banned on every road in Sea Pines, so a beach trip by car starts at one of three lots: the Beach Club’s, Lot 8 for the shuttle (below), or the owners-only lot at Tower Beach. The Sea Pines Resort owns the Beach Club lot and, from March 21 to September 7, 2026, runs it under a parking plan from about 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Rental guests and others with a “right of access” can use the first 50 spaces. Once those are taken, they are turned away and pointed to the beach shuttle lot.

• Resort guests and Sea Pines owners (with a full interest in their property) get the other 108 spaces, and overflow parking at the Plantation Golf Club when the lot fills.

• Day visitors have no parking at the Beach Club during those hours. Early morning, late afternoon and the off-season are the times to try.

South Beach has no lot of its own. Check the resort’s current plan on seapines.com before a spring or summer beach day, because the dates and hours are set each year.

The Beach Shuttle and Other Ways to the Sand

The CSA runs a free beach shuttle from Lot 8, off Greenwood Drive between Fraser Circle and Willow Oak Road West, straight to the Beach Club. In 2026 it runs daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 20 to September 7, weather permitting, with no service during the RBC Heritage golf tournament week. It is for owners and their family and guests, long-term renters, and weekly rental guests who have the short-term weekly vehicle pass from the CSA. A lot attendant turns day visitors away. No pets, other than service animals.

In season the Sea Pines trolley also runs, including a route between Harbour Town and South Beach. Plan to leave the Beach Club by 5 p.m. if you are counting on the shuttle back.

Beaches Outside the Gate

If you are not staying in Sea Pines, a public beach park is often simpler. The closest are just north of the Ocean Gate: Alder Lane Beach Access, with metered parking, and Coligny Beach Park, whose town lot is free.
