Pick the bike up yourself for one day. One-day rentals cost $20 at Hilton Head Bicycle Company, Bike Doctor and Wheelz when you collect from the shop. Cross Island takes $5 off each bike if you pick up and drop off.
Get it delivered on longer stays. On 3 days or more, most shops deliver to your rental and collect the bikes for free, so there is no need for a car trip.
Book ahead in summer. Rates and stock change with the season, and the shop’s booking page shows the price for your dates.
Skip the e-bike unless you need it. An e-bike costs about three times as much as a cruiser, and Sea Pines does not allow them on its trails.
