Alljoy Beach is the name most people use for the public landing at 265 Alljoy Road, on the May River south of Old Town. Beaufort County runs it as the Alljoy Boat Landing. Bluffton has no ocean beach, and this is not one: the shoreline beside the ramp is a narrow strip of sand, rock and marsh grass, good for looking at the river, launching a kayak or watching boats come and go. The landing
The landing has two boat ramp lanes, courtesy docks and vault restrooms. The county replaced the dock in early 2024 with a new 180-foot floating dock, and the landing reopened in March of that year. Trailer parking is limited, about 20 vehicles, and fills quickly on nice weekends, so arrive early or use it on a weekday.
Kayaks, paddleboards and the sandbar
Alljoy is a common launch for kayaks and paddleboards as well as powerboats, and from here the river runs toward Calibogue Sound. The May River's tide is strong, so plan a trip with the tide in mind rather than against it.
