About Sanctuary Golf Club at Cat Island

The course opened in 1985, designed by George Cobb — who also designed Augusta National’s par-3 course — in a low-country plantation style, with a 2008 renovation by architect Jeff Brauer. It winds through grounds shaded by massive, moss-covered live oaks, with water in play on at least a dozen holes — the 16th and 17th tees both look out over the Port Royal Sound. Four sets of tees accommodate a range of skill levels, and the club has an on-site driving range, putting green, and teaching professional. The course now operates as the golf course of Cat Island Club, a private country club also offering tennis and a resort-style pool.
