Dataw Island Cotton Dike Golf Course
Cotton Dike is the Tom Fazio course, listed as opening in 1985. It runs along the island’s southern and eastern shoreline, and it takes its name from the dikes built in the plantation era to create more land for cotton fields. The USGA’s rating database lists it as a par 72 of 6,849 yards from the Black tees, rated 73.8 with a slope of 144. The club describes it as among South Carolina’s top 50 courses.
Dataw Island Club Morgan River Golf Course
Morgan River is the Arthur Hills course, listed as opening in 1993. It is also a par 72. From the Black tees it plays 6,676 yards, rated 72.7 with a slope of 135. On paper Cotton Dike is the harder of the two: its Black-tee slope is nine points higher.
Dataw Island Country Clubhouse and Amenities
The clubhouse overlooks the Jenkins Creek marshes, and the Carolina Ballroom hosts events. Dataw has a marina with wet slips, dry stack storage and a boat yard, plus tennis, pickleball, croquet, bocce, two pools and a fitness center. Dataw says visitors are always welcome at the marina and at Morgan River Grill, even though the island is gated.
