Bear Creek Golf Club Hilton Head Island SC

Bear Creek Golf Club, opened in 1980 inside Hilton Head Plantation, was Rees Jones’ very first solo golf course design — he returned in 2006 to renovate his own original layout. Tall pines and winding doglegs run through real wildlife habitat, an Audubon-certified course that has hosted events including the 2014 Hilton Head Amateur. Rees Jones’ First Solo Design

Before Rees Jones became one of golf’s best-known modern architects, Bear Creek was his first course working entirely on his own — he came back to renovate it himself in 2006. The layout winds tall-pine fairways and doglegs through Hilton Head Plantation’s natural wetlands, with Super Dwarf TifEagle greens built for Lowcountry conditions and real, Audubon-certified wildlife habitat throughout the round.

Bear Creek Hilton Head Island Access

Bear Creek Golf Club is on Whooping Crane Way inside Hilton Head Plantation, on the north end of Hilton Head Island. The club offers resort/guest access rather than fully public daily-fee play.
