George Fazio Golf Course Hilton Head Overview

Designed by George Fazio — one of the relatively few courses he designed entirely on his own, distinct from the far larger body of work carrying the separate Tom Fazio and Jim Fazio design brands — George Fazio Golf Course opened in 1974 and threads a single routing through Palmetto Dunes’ lagoons and lowcountry woodland at a par of 70, built to reward accuracy over distance. The course carries only two par-5 holes, with its heart in a stretch of long par-4s that opens at the 432-yard 1st and closes at the 462-yard 18th (from the back tees). The 16th, 17th, and 18th play as the course’s toughest closing stretch, and the par-3 17th is regarded as one of the finest short holes on Hilton Head Island.
