Sun City Hilton Head, Del Webb’s 55-and-over community near Bluffton, has three golf courses, and all three are private: only residents and the guests they invite may play, and the association’s rules say plainly that there is no public access. Two are full-length championship courses by Mark McCumber, and the third is an 18-hole executive course.
How the Three Courses Compare
Hidden Cypress is the longest and hardest of the three, at 6,953 yards from the back tees with a slope of 136. Okatie Creek, Sun City’s first course, opened in 1995 through pines and marsh, and had its greens and fairways regrassed in 2025. Argent Lakes, on the community’s north side toward Hardeeville, is a par 61 of 4,150 yards with twelve par 3s, and its clubhouse has a pizza pub.
Who Can Play Golf in Sun City
Residents book tee times online through the association’s reservation system, and any of the three golf shops can fill a same-day time by phone if one is open. A visitor can play only as a resident’s guest, booked and accompanied by that resident. There is no public tee sheet and no way to buy a round as a member of the public.

Golf Plans and Guest Rounds
Golf is not part of the Sun City assessment. Residents who play buy a yearly golf plan, from $347 for a single 9-hole plan to $4,638 for a premium couple’s plan in 2026, and then pay a lower price per round the more they spend on the plan. A resident and an accompanied guest pay the same rate: $62 for 18 holes before 2 p.m. at Hidden Cypress or Okatie Creek, $48 at Argent Lakes, less in the afternoon, plus $20 for a cart.
