All three nines are Tom Fazio designs, and the nines loop back to the pro shop. The club’s site lists Magnolia at 3,564 yards and Palmetto at 3,443 yards, with water in play on seven of Palmetto’s nine holes, and calls Dogwood a test of both the short and the long game, with marsh views.

The USGA rates the nines as three 18-hole pairings: Magnolia/Dogwood, Dogwood/Palmetto and Palmetto/Magnolia. Each is a par 72, and the back Gold tees run from 6,809 yards (Dogwood/Palmetto) to 6,964 yards (Magnolia/Dogwood), with ratings from 73.4 to 74.7 and slopes from 142 to 145. The practice area has a driving range with 12 hitting stations, a chipping green and a putting green, and the club has three PGA professionals on staff.

The Callawassie Island Clubhouse sits among moss-draped oaks with water views, and it hosts the club’s gatherings and events. The River Club offers year-round waterfront dining, with a family pool, a sundeck and a fire pit. The racquet center has six Har-Tru courts and four pickleball courts, and there is a fitness center. The island’s own site lists more than 50 active clubs and calls Callawassie the first Community Wildlife Habitat in South Carolina.
