Sky Pirate Parasail runs from the docks at Broad Creek Marina, on the creek that cuts into the middle of Hilton Head. It is best known for parasailing: the boat runs out to the flight area in Calibogue Sound and lets riders up 500 feet on 800 feet of rope, which the company bills as the highest and longest flight in town. From the same dock it rents WaveRunners and boats, pulls tubes and water skiers in the creek, and runs dolphin, sunset and fireworks cruises. What Sky Pirate Runs

• Parasailing: $90 a flyer for a 90-minute trip on a Coast Guard-inspected boat for 12, with up to three riders in the air at a time (450 lb combined). Stay dry or ask for a dip. Spectators ride for $40 if seats are left at check-in. See how it compares on our Hilton Head parasailing guide.

• Jet skis: Yamaha WaveRunners, $150 for 90 minutes with one or two on the ski, life jackets and a safety briefing included. Riders head to a set riding zone away from the heavy boat traffic, and first-timers practise near the dock. More operators on the jet ski rentals page.

• Tubing and water skiing: a private boat for up to six plus the captain, in the calm water of Broad Creek near the marina so friends can watch from the dock. See tubing and water skiing.

• Boat rentals: self-drive, a 20-foot bow rider for up to 8 ($425 for four hours, $800 for eight) or a 25-foot deck boat for up to 13 ($450 or $900). Fuel is extra and the driver must be 18 or older.

• Cruises: a dolphin ecology cruise, a sunset cocktail cruise with beer, wine and soft drinks, and a fireworks cruise.

Finding the Dock and Booking

Broad Creek Marina is at 18 Simmons Road, off William Hilton Parkway mid-island; Sky Pirate is on the docks, and the office is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day in season. Check in 30 minutes before your trip. Parasail flyers must be 6 or older, and anyone under 12 flies with an adult. Cancel at least 24 hours ahead: inside 24 hours, and for no-shows, there is no refund.
