Full-day offshore trips on the Salty Mistress, a 38-foot Rampage, from Skull Creek Marina: wrecks, bottom fishing and the Gulf Stream.
- Where: Skull Creek Marina, 1 Waterway Ln
- Boat: Salty Mistress, 38-ft Rampage
- Group: Up to 6 guests
- Trips: Full day only, from $1,500
Above and Below Charters also trades as Salty Mistress Sportfishing, after the boat: a 2002 Rampage 38 Express, 38 feet long with a 14-foot beam, twin Caterpillar diesels that cruise at 25 knots, a fighting chair, a tuna tower, air-conditioned cabin and an onboard head. It takes up to six guests, and it runs full-day offshore trips only. Both names point to the same business at Skull Creek Marina, and the same phone, (843) 290-4132.
Trips and Rates
Wreck fishing, 6 to 8 hours, $1,500: artificial reefs for cobia, king and Spanish mackerel and sheepshead, by season. Seasonal, and not the trip for hauling home a cooler of fish.
Bottom fishing, 8 to 10 hours, $2,000: up to 50 miles offshore for grouper, snapper, triggerfish and sea bass, with a good chance of fish for dinner.
Gulf Stream, 10 to 12 hours, $3,000: up to 100 miles out, trolling for marlin, sailfish, wahoo, mahi-mahi and tuna, with bottom fishing on the way back in if the big fish don't cooperate.
Ice, tackle, bait and gear are included, and there is a coffee maker and grill aboard. Bring food, drinks and sunscreen. Deckhands work for tips (20% is customary), a fuel surcharge may apply on offshore trips, and swordfishing, overnight and custom trips are available on request.
