Yacht Cove is a villa community in the middle of Hilton Head Island, off William Hilton Parkway beside Shelter Cove and across the parkway from Palmetto Dunes. Its homes are two- and three-bedroom villas around lagoons and woods, with a community pool, tennis courts, a clubhouse and a walking trail. Wyndemere Villas, one of its regimes, allows no rentals at all.
Yacht Cove Villas for Sale
Yacht Cove is made up of separate condominium regimes. Wyndemere Villas, at 50 Yacht Cove Drive, dates from the late 1980s: its two- and three-bedroom townhouse-style villas run from about 1,100 to 1,500 square feet, and its Building 200 is the only one with an elevator. The Yacht Cove buildings at 10 Yacht Cove Drive have two- and three-bedroom condos of about 1,300 to 1,600 square feet, and there are townhomes and townhome lots on Jib Sail Court.

What the Fees Cover
Owners pay two bills. The community assessment, about $650 a year, keeps up the pool, the tennis courts, the clubhouse and the walking trail. Each regime then charges its own monthly fee for its buildings: insurance, roofs, exteriors and grounds. Ask the regime for its budget, its reserves and any special assessment before you make an offer, and ask what the regime fee includes, since it varies by building.
Renting Out a Yacht Cove Villa
Don't buy at Wyndemere Villas to run a vacation rental: its rules reserve the villas for owners and their guests. The other regimes set their own rules, so read the master deed and ask the regime about vacation and long-term leases before you buy a unit to rent. A vacation rental anywhere on the island also needs a Town of Hilton Head Island short-term rental permit. Living at Yacht Cove
Shelter Cove Harbour, with its restaurants, shops and boat tours, is a few minutes' walk away, and Shelter Cove Towne Centre has the groceries and more shops. The nearest public beaches are a short bike ride or drive away. Palmetto Dunes is across the parkway, but Yacht Cove is a separate community, not part of it.
