All About Cats HHI

All About Cats is a 100% volunteer nonprofit that cares for Hilton Head’s stray and abandoned cats. Its sanctuary on Beach City Road, on the north end near Mitchelville and Fish Haul Beach, is a little over an acre of open ground under live oaks, closed in by a tall wooden fence, where more than 80 cats live with shelters, food and water. Volunteers feed and care for them every day.

The group also runs a trap, neuter and return program for cat colonies around the island, tests for FIV and feline leukemia, and finds homes for adoptable cats, with a home visit before an adoption. Some of its cats are shown for adoption at the island PetSmart and on Petfinder.

Visiting the Sanctuary

The gate is not open all day. Visitors meet the cats during the volunteers’ morning hours, which recent visitors give as Tuesday and Thursday, 9 to 11; call ahead to arrange a visit or a tour. Outside those hours you can only see the cats from the road.

How to Help

All About Cats runs on donations of money, food and time, and its website has a page for each. For dogs and cats in need of a home, the island’s shelter is the Hilton Head Humane Association.
