Hardware Stores Open on Sunday
Two island hardware stores open on Sunday: Grayco at the south end, 9 to 5, and Ace Hardware at the north end, 9 to 3. Anchor Hardware is closed all weekend. Coligny Hardware is open every day for beach supplies; call for its hours. After 6 p.m. on a weekday, or after 3 on a Sunday, the Home Depot and Lowe’s in Bluffton are the only hardware stores open.

There is no Home Depot or Lowe’s on Hilton Head Island. Both are on the mainland in Bluffton (see the Home Depot and Lowe’s pages), off US 278 about 20 minutes past the bridges, so allow most of an hour for the round trip from mid-island, longer in summer traffic. They are open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 8 to 8 on Sunday. Go there for lumber, appliances, flooring and big projects; for a part, a key or a tool, the island stores are closer.

For property managers and owners: Grayco is the closest full hardware store to the south-end rentals in Sea Pines, Shipyard and Forest Beach, and Ace to the north-end communities. Between them they carry the turnover-day list: air filters, light bulbs, batteries, plumbing parts, touch-up paint and keys cut while you wait. Grayco and Ace both open on Sunday, the busiest changeover day. For beach chairs and coolers for guests, Coligny Hardware is a block from Coligny Beach.
