Hilton Head Facts for Digital Marketing
- Who is selling
- About 15 in 100 working island residents run their own business (as of 2024), so much of the marketing here is done for owners who also run the jobs.
- Part-time owners
- About 1 in 4 homes on the island is a second home or used only part of the year (as of 2024), so owners and guests often search from somewhere else, and a website has to work for people who are not here.
- Who is online
- About 92 in 100 island households have a broadband subscription of some kind (as of 2024). The rest rely on a phone plan or have no internet, so a printed card and a phone number still earn their keep.

- Four of the six companies below are on the island: Tucker Marketing Group is about half a mile from Coligny Plaza, and Real Avenue Design and World Design Marketing are 2 miles or less from Shelter Cove Towne Centre. Two have offices in Bluffton, about 8 miles from Town Hall.
- Town business license
- Any business in the Town of Hilton Head Island needs a Town business license, home-based businesses included. Revenue Services: (843) 341-4677. Licenses run May 1 to April 30, and renewals are due April 30.
- Free advice
- The USCB Small Business Development Center offers confidential, no-cost, one-on-one consulting at the USCB Hilton Head Island campus, 1 Sand Shark Drive, (843) 208-8259.

Online Marketing on Hilton Head Island: What You Can Buy
Online marketing is a bundle of separate jobs, and the companies above sell different parts of it. Search and your Google listing bring people who are already looking: Tucker Marketing Group lists SEO, AI search marketing and Google profile optimization, Real Avenue Design sells an SEO plan, and Coastal Marketing Strategies leads with SEO. Ads and social media reach people who are not looking yet: Tucker lists digital advertising and social media, Kickstart Local sells pay-per-click and social packages, and 33 Park Media runs web, search, social and email campaigns. The website itself is the base for the rest: Real Avenue Design builds and manages sites on monthly plans. Brand and design is World Design Marketing’s and Tucker’s starting point.
Start from who you sell to. A short-term rental owner or a restaurant usually needs a good website and a Google Business Profile first. A club, a resort or a real estate brand often needs the brand and the story first, which is the work World Design Marketing lists. About 1 in 4 island homes is a second home or used part of the year (as of 2024), so a lot of your future customers search from another state: your site has to answer them without a phone call. If you sell cars, iKonic Digital Marketing on Folly Field Road lists dealership lead tools such as Facebook campaigns and text-message follow-up; it is built for dealers, so it is not carded here.
Choosing a Marketing Agency on Hilton Head
Ask each marketing agency four things. Who will I talk to? Tucker Marketing Group reviewers name the owner and the team, and Real Avenue Design reviewers name its owner, Jeremy Avenarius. How long is the contract? Kickstart Local lists month-to-month service; ask everyone else. Who owns the website and the ad accounts if we stop? Get it in writing. What have you done for a business like mine here? Reviewers describe Lowcountry video projects, travel and hospitality campaigns, author and online-store websites and Hilton Head restaurant sites.
A local office matters most for work that happens in person: photos of your shop, a brand workshop, a ribbon cutting. Tucker Marketing Group is next to Coligny Plaza, and Real Avenue Design and World Design Marketing are closer to Shelter Cove. Kickstart Local and Coastal Marketing Strategies are in Bluffton, about 8 miles from Town Hall, which is a short drive for a meeting; see the Bluffton page for six Bluffton marketing agencies. For search work alone, with web design, logo design and shirt printing, see SEO companies on Hilton Head. The Hilton Head Island map shows where each area is.
Do You Need a Business License to Market a Business on Hilton Head?
Any business operating in the Town of Hilton Head Island needs a Town business license, and that includes home-based businesses. You can apply online or with the PDF application, and a $10 non-refundable application fee is due when you submit. The license tax is based on your projected gross revenue for the first year, prorated by the month you open. If your address is inside the town limits, the Town checks it with its 911 technician and Community Development reviews zoning; a fire inspection is requested unless the business is home-based. Revenue Services is at (843) 341-4677, weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Licenses run May 1 to April 30, and renewals are due April 30; a late payment adds a penalty of 5 percent of the unpaid amount for each month past due. Renewal forms are mailed by the end of January. That applies to your own business and to the agency you hire: ask a marketing company for its Town or county license as you would a contractor’s. Not every address with a Hilton Head mailing address is inside the town limits, and the Town says departments typically do not review applications from outside them; see the Town of Hilton Head Island page.

What Digital Marketing Costs on Hilton Head
Only Kickstart Local publishes a price: packages that start at $799 a month, customized to your services, goals and market, month to month (its website, October 2026). The Hilton Head agencies quote by project or by plan after a conversation: Real Avenue Design offers a free estimate and monthly management plans, and Tucker Marketing Group offers a free marketing evaluation. What moves a quote: how many jobs you bundle (a website plus ads plus social costs more than one), whether the site has to be built or only updated, how much new writing, photography or video you need, and how many months you commit.
Ad spend is separate from the agency’s fee: the money you pay Google or Facebook goes to them, not to the agency. Ask for both numbers in writing, and ask what you will see every month. If banking or insurance for the business is on your list too, see Hilton Head banks and insurance.
