Home Depot Bluffton, SC: the Nearest to Hilton Head

There is no Home Depot on Hilton Head Island. The one that serves it is in Bluffton at 20 Gateway Village Road, just off Fording Island Road (US 278), about 20 minutes past the bridges. It is the full big-box range: lumber, appliances and countertops, garden supplies and a truck rental desk. Allow most of an hour for the round trip from mid-island, longer in summer traffic.

The store is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, which makes it the late-night option when the island hardware stores have closed. For a part, a key or a tool, the island stores are closer: Ace Hardware at the north end and Grayco at the south end both open on Sunday. All the options are in our Hilton Head hardware store guide, and the other big-box store is Lowe’s in Bluffton.

What Shoppers Say

Reviewers praise the selection in one place and staff in appliances and at the truck rental desk who knew the products. The complaints are about uneven service and work arranged through the store but done by contractors, such as installations and refacing.

For property managers and owners: the Home Depot is the place for the changeover-day supplies the island stores run short of, such as a replacement appliance or garden supplies, and its 6 a.m. opening beats a 10 a.m. checkout. For filters, bulbs, batteries and keys, stay on the island.
