Sailmaster is a group of townhome villas on Sailmaster Common, a small neighborhood on the Brigantine nine of Shipyard Golf Club, inside Shipyard on Hilton Head Island. The villas are clustered around courtyards and look out on the community pool or the fairways, some of them onto the Brigantine’s first hole.
It is one of the Shipyard rentals we cover, set up for a golf trip: the clubhouse, the Sonesta Resort and the Beach Club are all a short bike ride away. Shipyard’s other “-master” complexes are Shipmaster, Golfmaster and Tennismaster.
The Townhomes
Sailmaster villas have two or three bedrooms and two and a half to three baths, in roughly 1,500 to 1,900 square feet. Each opens onto a courtyard, and parking is at the curb.
Location
The Shipyard Beach Club is about a mile away on the leisure trail, an easy bike ride, and the golf clubhouse is closer still. Bikes are the way to get around: golf carts are not allowed on Shipyard’s roads or paths.
Booking Sailmaster
Villas are owned one by one and rented by companies including Hilton Head Rentals and Sunset Rentals, and some are listed on Vrbo. Pets are allowed in the complex, but each owner decides for a rental, so check the listing. Shipyard is gated. Whoever you book with authorizes a pass for your stay, which you pick up at the Pope Avenue gate or the US 278 gate. Staying inside the gate also gives you use of the Shipyard Beach Club.
