Townhouse Tennis is a complex of three-bedroom townhouses on Townhouse Manor, at the Pope Avenue gate end of Shipyard on Hilton Head Island. Its seven and a half acres are heavily wooded and landscaped, and it has private clay tennis courts and a community pool of its own.
It is one of the Shipyard rentals we cover, and a good fit for a tennis group that wants courts at the door. Windward Village is just past it off Cordillo Parkway.
The Townhouses
Each townhouse has three bedrooms and three baths, with two primary suites, one upstairs and one down. There is a patio or courtyard, a large deck, and a carport with a storage room. Views are of the lagoons or the golf course.
Location
Being near the Pope Avenue gate puts Coligny Plaza just outside, and Shipyard’s leisure trails lead to Shipyard Golf Club and, a short bike ride on, the Shipyard Beach Club. For lessons and more courts, the Van der Meer tennis center is inside Shipyard too (it and the island’s other courts are in our Hilton Head tennis guide).
Booking Townhouse Tennis
Townhouses are owned one by one. Companies renting them include Hilton Head Rentals, and some are on Vrbo. Each owner sets the pet rules and the minimum stay, so check the listing. Shipyard is gated. Whoever you book with authorizes a pass for your stay, which you pick up at the Pope Avenue gate or the US 278 gate. Staying inside the gate also gives you use of the Shipyard Beach Club.
