Waterford is a complex of 34 two-story townhomes at 31 Shipyard Drive, the first one inside Shipyard’s US 278 gate on Hilton Head Island and a short walk from the Shipyard Golf Club clubhouse. The villas look over the Galleon fairways, and the complex has its own pool, a tennis court, a fitness center, a clubhouse and covered bike storage.

The Townhomes
Waterford was built in 1980. Every villa has two bedrooms and two or two and a half baths in 1,280 to 1,760 square feet, with an open floor plan and a deck or patio facing the course, and many have a corner gas fireplace. Parking is at the curb.
Location
Being just inside the US 278 gate, Waterford is quick to reach from William Hilton Parkway, and it is at the other end of Shipyard from the beach: the Shipyard Beach Club is about a mile away by bike path.
Booking Waterford
Villas are owned one by one, and short-term rentals are allowed. With 34 townhomes, there are fewer to choose from than in the bigger complexes; companies with Waterford rental pages include Hilton Head Rentals and Sunset Rentals, and villas also turn up on Vrbo. Pets are allowed in the complex, but each owner sets the rules for a rental. Shipyard is gated. Whoever you book with authorizes a pass for your stay, which you pick up at the Pope Avenue gate or the US 278 gate. Staying inside the gate also gives you use of the Shipyard Beach Club.
