A Family Oyster House Since 1899
The business began in 1899 as a family operation, and the shucking house still runs by hand. The company says it uses about 15 oyster pickers and up to 12 shuckers a day, and that nothing arrives or leaves by truck: the catch comes from local waters. It is one of the last oyster houses of its kind in the Lowcountry.

The market sells oysters, clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, fish filets, soft shell crabs and live blue crabs. Reviewers say the staff will help you choose, tell you where each fish came from and carry your purchase to the car. Customers pick up oysters by the dozen or the bushel, and shrimp and mussels are regular buys for cooking at home.
