Somerset Chapel is the wedding chapel at Montage Palmetto Bluff, the resort inside the Palmetto Bluff community in Bluffton, South Carolina. It is a white clapboard chapel with a steeple and a columned porch, set on the resort’s inner waterway, and its tall arched windows face east and west, so light crosses the room from sunrise to sunset. It seats up to 185 guests in 1,750 square feet.
Weddings at Somerset Chapel
The chapel came with Montage’s 2016 expansion of the resort, as a larger second chapel to the small community chapel in Wilson Village. It is a venue, not a parish: the resort books it for ceremonies and private events, the patio outside takes the cocktail hour, and the reception moves to a tent on the Village Green beside the Wilson mansion ruins or into the resort’s ballroom.
Its best-known wedding was Justin and Hailey Bieber’s, on September 30, 2019: the ceremony at sunset in Somerset Chapel before about 150 guests, and the reception in the Wilson Ballroom.
