Wright Family Park is at 111 Calhoun Street, where the street ends at the May River in Old Town Bluffton. It is a lawn under live oaks with a brick plaza, a boardwalk along the water’s edge, stairs down to the river, benches and public restrooms. It is one of the parks in Bluffton. The Wright family kept the land for about eighty years before the Town of Bluffton and Beaufort County bought it together, and the Town runs it. Entry is free.
The Boardwalk and the Calhoun Street Dock
The boardwalk follows the top of the river bank, with steps down to the water. The Calhoun Street dock, Bluffton’s public dock, is part of the park, and tour boats pick up here. Renting the Lawn
The Town rents the park for weddings and events: $600 for residents and $1,200 for non-residents, plus a $200 security deposit. Alcohol and amplified music are not allowed, vehicles cannot enter the park, and the public keeps access to the restrooms during a rental. Rules for Visitors
Pets must be leashed or under control and their waste picked up. Cars stay out of the park itself, so walk in from Old Town. The park is open from dawn to dusk.
