Tides for Boneyard Beach
Tides matter most at Hunting Island for the walk to Boneyard Beach, on Little Hunting Island over a small bridge at the north end. The park closes that bridge when high tides make it unsafe, so go near low tide, when there is the most sand to walk on, and check the park’s advisory before you set out. The default location in the tide chart is the north end.
North End and South End Tides
The island’s tides rise and fall about 6 feet on an average day and up to about 9 feet on the biggest tides. At the north end they run within a few minutes of Hilton Head’s ocean beaches; at the south end, by the lagoon, the pier and Fripps Inlet, high tide comes about 15 minutes sooner. Pick the south end in the location menu for the pier. For the lighthouse, camping and fees, see the Hunting Island State Park guide; for the town up the road, the Beaufort, SC tide chart.
