April is one of the most pleasant months of the year, with highs in the mid-70s, lows in the mid-50s and only about 3 inches of rain. It is peak outdoor season for good reason: dry, warm days without the summer humidity.

The warmest April days reach the mid-80s, and a passing front can still bring a cool evening, so a light jacket earns its place in the bag.

By late April the first real beach days of the year arrive.
