Shore Beach Service is the company behind the blue umbrellas on Hilton Head's beaches. It has served the island since 1974 and is the only company that sets up chairs and umbrellas for you on the public beach every day, anywhere along the 13.5 miles of sand. How the On-Sand Rental Works

• Reserve ahead: book by phone or through the company's site, and say which beach access is closest so the crew can set up near it.

• It is set up before you arrive: reviewers report finding their chairs waiting, with their name on them.

• Daily service: the crew sets up each morning and answers questions at the beach park.

• Lifeguards: the same company staffs lifeguards at the town's beach parks, and guests mention friendly guards who explain flags and conditions.
