What North Forest Beach Is Like
North Forest Beach is the half of Forest Beach that runs from Coligny Circle toward Shipyard and the Sonesta. It is mostly houses on short side streets off North Forest Beach Drive, so it feels like a beach neighborhood rather than a strip of resorts, and it is the quieter of the two halves.
The homes nearest the circle are a few minutes’ walk from Coligny Plaza’s restaurants and shops and from Coligny Beach Park. The farthest are about a mile and a half up the beach, close to Shipyard, where you can bike back to Coligny along the beach at low tide.
Homes on the Bird Streets
Most rental homes in North Forest Beach sit on streets named for shorebirds, and the names run in alphabetical order going away from Coligny: Avocet Road, Bittern Street, Curlew Street, Dove Street and Egret Street first, then on through Mallard, Pelican and Quail to Sandpiper Street, a little over a mile up. If a listing gives you its street, the first letter tells you roughly how far you will be from the plaza. Past Sandpiper, lanes such as Driftwood, Wanderer and Sea Spray carry on toward Shipyard.
Dune Lane has more rental homes than any other street here, many of them on the oceanfront. Dove Street is one of the closest to Coligny.
North Forest Beach Villas
There are villas in North Forest Beach too, in six complexes. Two are on the oceanfront: The Breakers at 4 North Forest Beach Drive, at the Coligny end, and SeaCrest at 10 North Forest Beach Drive. North Shore Place is a condominium building on the same drive. Sands Village and Coligny Villas are on Lagoon Road, a short walk from the plaza, and Oceanwood is a small community of vacation homes.
