Sea Pines Beach Club, Hilton Head Island

The Sea Pines Beach Club — sometimes searched for as simply the Hilton Head beach club, since it’s the best-known oceanfront facility inside the resort — is Sea Pines Plantation’s main day-use beach pavilion, at 87 N Sea Pines Drive on the island’s south end. It’s built around oceanfront dining, a beach bar, a surf shop, and full changing/shower facilities, with premium beach chair and umbrella service set up on the sand in front of it. It’s a different spot from South Beach, the marina village at Sea Pines’ southern tip — the Beach Club is a beach-day facility, not a neighborhood.

Is the Sea Pines Beach Club Open to the Public?

The beach itself is public — every beach on Hilton Head is, by South Carolina law, up to the high-tide line — and anyone can get inside Sea Pines Plantation to reach it with a day gate pass. What’s reserved is the Beach Club facility’s own convenience: its parking lot is set aside for Sea Pines property owners and resort guests from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., spring through Labor Day, and the complimentary beach shuttle that runs from Lot 8 on Greenwood Drive is restricted the same way — property owners, their guests, and renters, not casual day-pass visitors. A day visitor can still walk or bike in, or drive up outside that parking window, but during peak season hours the easier move is one of Sea Pines’ other beach access points rather than counting on parking or the shuttle at the Beach Club itself.

Getting to the Beach Club

By car, entering Sea Pines Plantation means paying the visitor gate fee — $10 per day for a standard two-axle vehicle as of March 1, 2026, payable at either the Greenwood Drive gate or the Ocean Gate off North Sea Pines Drive, both open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Property owners, resort guests, and anyone with a Sea Pines rental reservation skip the fee. From either gate it’s a short drive to 87 N Sea Pines Drive, or the Beach Club is reachable by bike or on foot along Sea Pines’ leisure-path network if you’re already staying inside the plantation.

The Beach Club is the only one built out with parking, restrooms, dining, and showers — the rest are simpler, unstaffed paths to the sand: Tower Beach Access near South Beach Marina, Plantation Club Access near Plantation Club and Atlantic Dunes, a separate property-owners-only Tower Beach access, and Ocean Gate Access near the Ocean Gate entrance.

Dining at the Beach Club

Coast, Oceanfront Dining occupies the ground floor — casual beachfront seafood with a patio right on the sand, open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Upstairs, the 21-and-over Ocean Lounge leans more upscale, with a bourbon selection and water views. A wraparound Beach Bar serves specialty drinks and hosts live entertainment in season, and the seasonal Surfside Market handles the fast option — fresh-to-go meals, smoothies, and wraps for a quick beach-day lunch.

Beach Chairs, Shop & Amenities

The resort runs its own beach chair and umbrella service directly off the Beach Club, May 4 through Labor Day, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weather permitting — complimentary for Sea Pines Inn & Club guests, $55 a day for other resort guests on a first-come, first-served basis, and it includes premium chairs and umbrellas, towels, a stocked cooler, and beachside food and drink service brought right to your spot. The seasonal Surf Shop (open March through October) covers beach gear, apparel, and resort merchandise. On the practical side, the Beach Club has air-conditioned, family-sized restrooms and changing rooms, outdoor showers and foot-wash stations, bike racks, and a complimentary beach wheelchair available first-come, first-served by QR-code booking.
