Tide Charts in Hilton Head Island

Tides on Hilton Head Island SC

Our local tides around Hilton Head and Daufuskie Island create a dynamic coastal rhythm that shapes both daily life and the natural landscape. What we experience are called semidiurnal tides, meaning two high tides and two low tides each day, with ranges that can reach 6–8 feet, dramatically revealing and concealing salt marshes, tidal creeks, and broad sandy flats.

As the tide rises, waterways deepen and come alive with dolphins, redfish, and seabirds following shifting currents; as it falls, vast oyster beds and spartina grass meadows emerge, offering a glimpse into one of the Lowcountry’s most vibrant ecosystems. This constant ebb and flow is not only picturesque but essential—nurturing wildlife, guiding boating and fishing conditions, and serving as a defining heartbeat of Hilton Head and Daufuskie’s coastal charm.
