SUMMARY:Arts Center | Play That Goes Wrong
DESCRIPTION:Arts Center of Hilton Head THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONGAward-Winning Comedy Delivers Non-Stop Laughs This Olivier Award-winning comedy is a hilarious hybrid of Monty Python and Sherlock Holmes. Welcome to opening night of “The Murder at Haversham Manor” of the Cornley Drama Society’s newest production\, where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. This ill-fated play-within-a-play is comically undermined by a series of escalating and increasingly absurd mishaps\, from collapsing sets and forgotten lines to props going missing and actors getting injured. The main story revolves around the dramatic unfolding of these accidents and the actors’ attempts to keep the show going amidst the chaos. With an unconscious leading lady\, a corpse that can’t play dead\, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines)\, it’s a riotous explosion of comedy!

SUMMARY:Emory Campbell & Tom Barnwell\, Jr. | Bridges Between Generations
DESCRIPTION:Gullah Celebrations On Tuesday\, February 17\, we’ll host an evening with Emory Campbell and Tom Barnwell\, Jr. — two voices deeply woven into the fabric of Hilton Head’s Gullah community.Emory Campbell is a legendary Gullah community leader\, born and raised on Hilton Head Island\, who has devoted his life to preservation\, cultural connection\, and bridging Gullah communities with the wider world.   He helped lead the historic “Gullah Homecoming” to Sierra Leone\, hosted heads-of-state\, and has been honored for decades for his work safeguarding traditions and place.Tom Barnwell (a descendant from Hilton Head’s Gullah community) is connected to the earliest narratives of Mitchelville; his family lineage speaks to the generational continuity of land\, memory\, and craft.Together\, they will weave generational stories — from post-Civil War reconstruction to the present day — illustrating how memory\, land\, language\, and leadership persist in Gullah life. This is a night bound to feel like sitting around a hearth\, hearing truths and dreams from those who carry the Gullah legacy in their voices.
